We are living art!!!

Jessica Anderson’s Miles Franklin winning novel Tirra Lirra by the River has been imagined by Anna Spiro into a beautiful room at the state library as part of the Brisbane Writer’s Festival. We have been invited to be a part of the art installation over the opening weekend.

QSWFA visits Corinda SHS Open Day

A few of our members popped into the shed at Corinda High’s Open Day to demonstrate spinning. The students were very curious about the process following their sheep and alpacas being shorn. Paula became quite attached to the sheep and Helen was thinking of kidnapping their alpacas!

High Tea

At our first meeting of the year we celebrated the beginning of our 50th year with a high tea. We had 80 people enjoy delicious morsels while they witnessed the unveiling of the new library on the stage.

We visit Tugulawa Early Education Centre.

The Tugulawa children have been feeding silkworms and watching their life cycle. Once the moths had finished with their cocoons Michelle and Alleyne popped in to show the children how silk paper was made and got them to help spinning silk. They had a wonderful day with lots of enthralled small ones.

Look what I found!

Earlier in the year Michelle Hanley did a  little bit of crochet while she chatted to Kat Feeney on ABC radio to promote our International Scarf Exchange, I just found this great speedy video!
