1-day workshop 9:30am to 3:30pm
Collage & Artist books are an expression of creativity through mixed media, combining textural layers; a place for treasures, mementos, drawings, meanderings, asemic writings, whatever you want to cherish.
This workshop is perfect for the artist or artisan who loves to hold their treasures in their hand, use their special vintage and handmade papers, tell a visual story and manipulate multi layered pages of texture. We will create a simple concertina artist book technique concentrating on mark making on surfaces and understanding the collage elements. Participants will work with their mark making implements brought to the workshop such as inks, paint, pencils, printmaking, and collage to develop pages of a theme and their visual story. Using vintage papers, rust dyed papers, fabric, imagery, and a little bit of stitch their themed concertina book will emerge.
A vintage pack of music sheets, book pages, linens, dress patterns, buttons and other treasures will be available for purchase on the workshop day to use in your collage creations. Cost: $25 per pack.
A materials list will be provided on enrolment of various items for students to bring to use in the collage process.
Morning tea will be provided. Bring your own lunch (Coffee, tea, refrigerator and microwave available).
Minimum of 4 students, the class will be cancelled 48 hours prior if the minimum is not met.
