Crochet is a most dynamic textile art and craft skill. Crochet cannot be duplicated by a machine – it has to be done by hand. The unique stitches that form the basis of crochet have a versatility that in the hands of the textile artist allows the production of not only functional items but items that demonstrate creativity and show the amazing artistic endeavors that can be achieved through this medium.
Over 2023, Dorothy will be doing a series of crochet workshops aimed at building your crochet skills.

- Join squares
- Work in ends

We’ll cover variations on the basic square. At the end of the workshop you will have produced up to 4 squares, joined to create a small clutch bag.
Prerequisites: You should already know how to do chain, double crochet and treble crochet.
Materials: Bring 2 to 4 colours of a yarn of your choice and a crochet hook suitable for that yarn. For example, if you chose an 8-ply yarn, you might bring a 4mm or 4.5mm crochet hook.
