Learn what can be done with crocheted circles.

Crochet is a most dynamic textile art and craft skill. Crochet cannot be duplicated by a machine – it has to be done by hand. The unique stitches that form the basis of crochet have a versatility that in the hands of the textile artist allows the production of not only functional items but items that demonstrate creativity and show the amazing artistic endeavors that can be achieved through this medium.

Over 2023, Dorothy will be doing a series of crochet workshops aimed at building your crochet skills.

In this workshop we’ll cover variations on the basic round. At the end of the workshop you will have produced a small bag. We’ll also discuss how to adapt the technique for basic hats – a bucket hat or beanie.

Prerequisites: You should already know how to do chain, double crochet and treble crochet.

Materials: Bring a yarn of your choice and a crochet hook suitable for that yarn. For example, if you chose an 8-ply yarn, you might bring a 4mm or 4.5mm crochet hook.
