Refashioning natural-fibre clothes workshop 21 July 2019
Slow Clothing author Jane Milburn shares simple and more complex ways to transform natural-fibre garments that we hold in our wardrobe even though they may be too big, too small, dysfunctional, misshapen or outdated style. After a lifetime of making and sustainism, Jane began refashioning in earnest in 2011 when she noticed burgeoning fashion waste. Jane will show garments she has reinvented with simple tweaks, flipped upside down, chopped into new forms and cut in creative ways. We discuss upcycling options, which may include embellishing and mending, and then enact changes within the timeframe and resources to hand. We use hand-stitching and machine sewing (BYO machine).
