Spinning is one of the earliest techniques humans mastered over 2000 years ago. Hand spinning has not changed very much over that time.

The threads or yarn that are produced can be used in many fibre & textile arts and crafts including knitting, crocheting and weaving.

The spindle is the oldest of all spinning techniques. This is usually where beginners start. It is easy to learn, but can take a lifetime to master.

The spinning wheel creates more yarn/thread more quickly than a spindle.
