The Emporium is a wonderland of fibre and colour where members of Queensland Spinners, Weavers and Fibre Artists can purchase materials for their crafts. We are open on Thursdays, 10 am to 1 pm and other times by appointment. Email emporium@qldspinners.org.au to make an appointment.
Conceived by the early members, the idea was that stock could be purchased in bulk, so savings could be passed on to members. There is also the convenience of being able to purchase your fibre needs on the days you attend meetings and items you may have difficulty finding for yourself.
We have a wide range of fibres, equipment, and tools available for spinning, weaving, felting and dyeing. Fibre is available both dyed and undyed. We have an extensive range of dyes for all fibres and fabric.
We stock protein or animal fibres including:
- Raw sheep fleece
- Alpaca fleece
- Wool top
- Silk in various forms such as top, caps, hankies, noil and lap and fabric
- Mohair
- Cashmere
- Regenerated fibres of soy and latte (milk)
We stock cellulose or plant fibres including:
- Cotton, ginned and top
- Flax (Linen)
- Hemp
- Bamboo
- Ramie
- Banana
