A few of our members popped into the shed at Corinda High’s Open Day to demonstrate spinning. The students were very curious about the process following their sheep and alpacas being shorn. Paula became quite attached to the sheep and Helen was thinking of kidnapping their alpacas!
At our first meeting of the year we celebrated the beginning of our 50th year with a high tea. We had 80 people enjoy delicious morsels while they witnessed the unveiling of the new library on the stage.
The Tugulawa children have been feeding silkworms and watching their life cycle. Once the moths had finished with their cocoons Michelle and Alleyne popped in to show the children how silk paper was made and got them to help spinning silk. They had a wonderful day with lots of enthralled small ones.
Earlier in the year Michelle Hanley did a little bit of crochet while she chatted to Kat Feeney on ABC radio to promote our International Scarf Exchange, I just found this great speedy video!
Our first stash bash on 25 November was a huge hit with the crafty punters. There were so many amazing treasures dug out from the backs of our crafters closets to share with us. The origin stories abounded of some of the special items as did the cleaning out of studios tales. Thanks everyone, look out for the next one!
Only one week until our first ever Stash Bash.

Alleyne, Michelle and I had a road trip today to buy some fleece for the Emporium from Del near Stanthorpe. We’ve stocked up on some lovely coloured Corriedale and Corriedale cross fleece. We were taken by the beautiful roses in Warwick and looked like total city girls walking along the gardens in the middle of the road trying to find the most beautiful and most fragrant. Come and check out the selection soon.
Congratulations Doris. It’s her first basket completed in one session of the basketcases meeting. Doris has been a member for over 5 years. George is so proud.
